1831 POPULATION FOR THE PARISH OF MANCHESTER
1831 POPULATION FOR THE PARISH OF MANCHESTER
INCLUDING THE FIGURES FOR ENGLAND, WALES, SCOTLAND AND IRELAND
THE information below is taken from the very snappily named document
- Abstract of Answers and Returns under the Population Act, II Geo IV c.30 for the Parish of Manchester including Salford. It was produced by the Statistical Society of Manchester.
This document can be seen on request, Monday to Thursday at Manchester Archives Reading Room located on the first floor of Manchester Central Library(MSF310.6M5Vol5). It is a breakdown of population figures by township within the Parish of Manchester. It also included details of housing and occupations. Whilst no names or details of individuals are recorded, it is still a fascinating and comprehensive snapshot of the details of the area. It also includes the population figure for Lancashire, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
